We are mid way through our survey details and there has been one recurring theme. You love “How To” decorating posts. Which is great, because I love writing them. If you haven’t taken your opportunity to share what you would like to get from your Builder’s Wife experience, be sure to see this post. We have decided to kick off a new series that will coincide with our Home Improvement Thursday post, our “How To Style” series. This week we begin with styling your bedside table, specifically for women.
How To Style Your Bedside Table
Start With A Fresh Table
This is a good time to get rid of your used tissues, the kids toys, that letter that arrived last week you haven’t had a chance to read yet. Clear off your bedside table. Give yourself a blank canvas to start with. Be sure to clean it while you are there.
Add A Lamp
All bedside tables need a lamp to light your way at night. Apart from providing light, lamps create wonderful soft ambience, perfect for a bedroom. Choose a lamp height to suit your bed style, short of no bed head? Add a tall lamp. If you have a decorative, busy or high bedhead, a short lamp will work well. Keep the colours of the lamp in theme with the colours already used in your bedroom.
Create A Vignette
Gather a few sentimental items and group them into a vignette. Odd numbers work well for a vignette. Photos are especially appropriate for bedside tables, as this little space should make you happy every time you look at it. I have added a small vase for flowers, so that even a single garden flower will add to the fresh feel for me. If you need a little extra height, you can place your vignette on top of a few books, or magazines.
Maintain Your Space
My bedside table is that one space I clean first every day. My bedside is the only place in the house that is mine alone, one I do not have to share. It is pretty much the first and last space I see each day, so I like to be my little place of luxury.
Here are a few other examples of bedside table styling.
I would love to see your bedside table styling, why not share a photo on my Facebook page 🙂
