Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award

Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award

I was a little bit chuffed a few weeks ago to be nominated for an award called the Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award, by the very lovely Kirsten from Kirsten and Co. I was further chuffed to receive the same award from the equally as gorgeous Sammie from The Annoyed Thyroid. To be handed this honor not once, but twice by two women who I hold in extremely high regard, was amazing and did wondrous things for my self esteem. Thanks ladies!

KirstenandMe

Kirsten and I at the Kidspot Masterclass early this year.

Sam and myself, with the lovely Jodie from Fresh Home Cook.

Essentially I now get to answer 10 questions from each of these ladies and pass on the honor to another 10 well deserving bloggers. Early this year I gave you a bit of an insight into who The Builder’s Wife is, now you can enjoy another 20 things about me that you didn’t know, you didn’t want to know ? So here we go!

1.Kirsten: Are you a Summer of Winter person? I am most definitely a Summer person! I really dislike the short days in Winter, there just doesn’t feel like there is enough time left each day to get everything done.

1.Sammie: Savoury or Sweet? Savoury all the way, I love chips, they are my biggest downfall. Mmmmm, feeling a little hungry now, must find chips!

2.Kirsten: What was the last thing you bought? Just yesterday I bought myself some new gym clothes, the son some new summer clothes and a whole bunch of food for the family.

2.Sammie: My food nemesis is tofu. What is yours? MASHED POTATO, I hate it, it makes me gag. I think it’s the texture. Yucky, horrible stuff.

3.Kirsten: Who does the ironing at your place? Me, well mostly me, sometimes if I can’t keep up with it all, I leave it for the cleaner to help me catch up, but it’s mostly me.

3.Sammie: What’s your speciality a la maison? I am not sure I have one, I make a mean nibbles platter, and the kids would probably say my roast chicken. I’m not a bad cook, and am happy to try my hand at just about anything.

4.Kirsten: What is your favourite movie of all time? Hands down, Grease!

4.Sammie: If you had to eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be? Chips, chips and more chips!

5.Kirsten: Are you going to see Oprah in December? I wish I could say yes, but no, I’m not ?

5.Sammie: If you could have dinner with a famous person, who would it be and where would you go? I’d love to have dinner with Oprah, oh the stories she could tell, as for where we would go, well let’s pretend I could visit her at her home, I bet that would be a real eye opener.

6.Kirsten: Have you ever eaten a fig? Actually I have, in fact they are a regular at our house on the good old cheese platter. I did have another witty thing to say about figs, but really thought it best to leave it at that! ?

6.Sammie: What dish would you make if you were auditioning for Masterchef? I don’t really have a signature dish, however the kids will agree, that I make a spectacular roast anything, with lots of roast potatoes and yummy gravy. Maybe not masterchef material, but the judges would definitely come back for seconds.

7.Kirsten: What is your middle name? I hated my middle name for years, embarrassed by my heritage, now I love it, I love the history that goes with it, it’s Willemine. My grandmother, mother and daughter all have the same, our family is dutch.

7.Sammie: What’s the best restaurant you’ve ever been to? Adam and I were lucky enough to receive a gift voucher to Matt Moran’s restaurant, Aria in Brisbane for dinner one night. It was the most delicious and the most expensive dinner I have ever eaten. Our bill for two, was a whopping $500, we did have a seven course tasting dinner with paired wines, but holy moly what a bill! The food was most definitely worth the expense though.

8.Kirsten: Have you ever met anyone famous? I have a few funny famous people stories. I worked in a pharmacy in a smallish country town, and happened to be working on the floor when the lead singer from my favourite band walked in the door and asked for quite a personal product. I really wanted to tell her that I loved what she did, but I couldn’t put her in that position, so I spent the next 2 days driving around town trying to find her so I could accidentally bump into her and introduce myself away from my professional position. I meet quite a few members of a big time Brisbane band in the same capacity, as one of the men I occasionally worked with was the father of the guitarist of that band.

8.Sammie: What’s the best holiday you’ve ever had? Our honeymoon and our first trip overseas to New Zealand was by far the best trip ever. It’s such a stunningly beautiful country, that I’ve been back since and we are planning another trip there next year.

9.Kirsten: Sweet or Savoury? Definitely savoury, all the chips all the time!

9.Sammie: Are you an early bird or a night owl? I am an early bird who likes to think I am a night owl. I am out of bed by 4.30am most mornings, although if I am going running it’s 4am, and I’m often not in bed till after 10pm, so while not real late, it sure is late after a 4.30 start.

10.Kirsten: Are you pleased these questions are finished? My goodness yes, it feels a bit like the Spanish inquisition. ?

10.Sammie: What’s the one thing your would never do or never eat? I will never, ever jump out of a plane, I really don’t understand why you would want to? I would never eat snails, or grubs, or worms. I would die on survivor!

Well there you have it, another 20 things you never thought you needed to know about me. Now it’s time for me to pass the baton, drum roll please, I’ve actually decided not to limit myself to 10 bloggers, because of the ten I choose, most had already received the award, so I’ve decided to pass tradition and leave 10 questions for you to answer if you please? I’d love to know a little more about you. So here they are….

  1. Tea or Coffee?
  2. Where did you meet your significant other?
  3. What 3 things would you want to have if you were shipwrecked on a deserted island?
  4. What was your first car?
  5. Beach or bush?
  6. Who is your celebrity crush?
  7. What would your perfect day look like?
  8. Do you have a favourite novel?
  9. Would you prefer to diet or exercise?
  10. Have you ever renovated your home?

That’s it, if you’d like to include your answers in a blog post, be sure to let me know so I can come along and read them, otherwise, please leave some answers in the comments so I can get to know you a little better.

  1. Oh, I loved your answers! 4am wake up call, not so much! You are a machine! I like tea and coffee and can’t live without either, although if I really had to choose, I guess I’d go with tea because there’s nothing that a cuppa tea can’t fix! I met my husband online dating (best $70 I ever spent!) but I’m still crushing hard on Joseph Gordon Levitt (swoon!) and I’ll always exercise over dieting because I just love eating too much! Congratulations on your nominations times two and your all round awesomeness x PS I love that picture of us! x

    1. Me too lovely! I might have been a little tipsy though. xx I would also pick tea over coffee, but only if pushed. Online dating, what an awesome story!! I’m a fan of the exercise of dieting too, I am totally in love with food. xx

  2. OMG – I love the name Willemine – I wanted to call one of my sons William {after my grandfather} although this is a great alternative if we ever get a girl. I have two sons {but boys run in my husband’s family}… We are planning on another two – possibly three so we shall see what we get!

    1. I am loving the sound of the size of your family Shari! We have five, a blended family, but I love having a large family. Willemine used to be such a source of embarrassment for me, so glad I got over those embarrassing teenage years and embraced my name and it’s heritage.
