My head is spinning as I think about my Christmas holidays coming to and end. I can’t believe it’s 2019!! But as outlined in the 5 Things To Do For Your Small Business During Your Christmas Break post, these first few days of the new year are when we do all out planning. Having firm business goals for the year ahead, gives you something to aim towards.
Setting Business Goals For 2019
A business without a plan is like a car without a steering wheel, you have little control over the direction you head in. That is the simple reason people like us at Tradies in Business, are constantly banging on about having a plan.
There are many different versions of future planning for your business. You can have a Business Plan, a 90 plan, a 12 month plan or simple goals for the year ahead. For something a little alternative, you can have an inspiration board, which is a visual reminder of what you are working towards.
Regardless of the type of plan you have for your business, it is essential that you have one. Simple is best, though I believe in ensuring that the motivation for the goal is also outlined. For example, your goal may be to hire admin support, the motivation is to free up some time for you to spend with your family.
When both the motivation and the goal is outlined, you not only have something to aim for, but you have the reason to do it. From here thought, it is important to outline the steps required to ensure you can attain that goal. In the above case it might be to increase turnover by $25K to ensure the affordability of the admin support, from there, outline how you can do that.
Essentially you begin with the goal, and from there you outline why and how to get it.
At Tradies in Business, our Trade Desk members have access to a simple 12 month business plan to help get you started on your dreams, and as a group we have a 90 day planning session every quarter to make sure you are kicking those goals!
