I am trying desperately to be a patient builder’s wife, and wait without complaining for my new ensuite, but I am not sure I am doing so well. Or at least The Builder would be quick to tell you I could do with some lessons in subtle hint dropping rather than dropping them like a sledgehammer! But you know, a girl needs somewhere to slowly get ready for the day, a luxurious escape from the busyness of life.
On the positive side, I am being provided with ample opportunity to plan said renovation, and today I would love to share with you our current choices. These have not changed too much in the 18 months or so we have been living here, such is the strength of our dream space. Luxury is a must, as we each dream about having a long, hot bath with a red wine and a good book on a chilly Sunday afternoon, just like when we are on holidays, at our favourite holiday space.
Let me share all the details!
A. Feature floor tiles by National Tiles. We would like to use a modern tile with a nod to the history of the time. I love the pattern in this one, nearly replicating the patterns that would have been used in the time.
B. You just can’t have a luxurious bathroom without a decadant chandelier! This one from Amazon is similar to what we have used elsewhere in the house.
C. The tapware in our ensuite will also be chosen to replicate what would have been available when our home was built, it’s fortunate that we love the style of that time. This wall mounted tapware from Reece will be just perfect!
D. These Carbon grey towels from Sheridan will help bring the colour of the floor tiles up the wall. Soft and fluffy towels are a must for a luxurious bathroom.
E. The bath will be a real feature of the ensuite with a special surprise I will leave until reveal, so it is essentially that a gorgeous claw foot bath is chosen.
F. Accessories will help bring a little character and colour into the room, these from pillow talk are my favourite style of amber glass.
G. Greenery is so important to the both of us. You can expect us to feature a few beautiful plants in our space.
H. Again the perfect tapware is an essential ingredient to making this room seamless. Reece has a great range of this heritage style, I am especially fond of the quarter turn taps 🙂
I. Keeping the bathroom smelling sweet is another essential for a lovely bathroom. I can’t go past a Glasshouse candle for a lovely scent.
J. With the floor tile feature so strong, the wall tiles will be a simple white and we are currently crushing on a herringbone pattern in a subway tile.
I am really excited to start this project, I am grateful for an ensuite that is functioning, however I do miss the space we had in our previous bathroom, and while I understand I wont have that again, a little extra is going to go a long way.
