My goodness there have been a few changes around here. So much is nearly finished, just a few final touches to be tidied up before we are finally able to say we are done…………..for now. Having said that, after nearly a month of using the girls bathroom, we have decided just to give it a freshen up as well, and then we can really relax. We have decided to take a year off from renovating our own home before we start with the extension. We need a little break, just a bit of time to catch our breath. So let’s have a look where we are as of this week.
Laundry
You’ll recall we needed to update the laundry though it is only going to be temporary. We have installed a laundry from Bunnings using a laminate bench top and are really happy with how it looks. We can reuse the tapware and the sink, the rest of the laundry we are hoping to be able to sell when the time comes to replace it.
We have tiled all of one wall, it looks fantastic. Just need to finish the tiling, grout, plastering and paint. So exciting.
Ensuite
Today is the day the tiler finishes up in the ensuite. Next will be the carpenters to put the vanity in place, attach the mirror, towel rail etc, as well as install the architraves to finish off the room. The electrician will also be in, to install the sconces and the chandelier over the bath ? For now though, here is a sneak peak of the tiles ?
Beveled edge subway tiles, with a marble floor tile and there is a feature wall of marble in the shower as well. I am just so pleased with our choices, I can now really see how it’s all going to come together. I’ll have more of this to share in the next couple of weeks.
Front Steps
The front steps are just about complete. We simply need to paint the treads and we are complete. This will be one of the final things we do after all the trades have finished coming and going. We are so happy with how well this one came together.
Roof
Finally for an extra tidy up, the roof is getting a nice little wash. Luke our site supervisor was up there yesterday with the pressure washer and will be on the roof finishing it off today. Really happy how clean it is coming up for such an old roof.
We are so close now, I can almost feel it. We abandoned the idea of getting the fence done at the moment, as doing so would mean the whole house will need a paint. We’ve decided to revisit the thought just before Christmas and see if we can make time. Painting is such a fiddly job. Look out for an update in 2 weeks when we hope to have it all finalised ?
Have you been renovating at your place? Planning any renos?Which room would you like to reno first?
