Christmas is my very favourite time of year. We are usually a first of December Christmas decorating family here, but this year, we’ve decided on a change. First to go up was our gorgeous new Christmas tree.
Our Christmas Tree
Gosh I thought Christmas was different last year, but this year has bought a whole new element of change to our family life. Only 2 of our 5 kids will be home for Christmas this year and as a reflection of that change, we have forgone our very different Christmas tree we usually construct as a family.
Instead this year, for the first time, our family will have a traditional Christmas Tree. We were fortunate enough last year to be given the opportunity to try a pre-lit tree from Balsam Hill. Once you’ve had a tree that doesn’t require the hour long argument with Christmas lights to complete, there really is no going back.
Last year was my first ever ‘pretty tree’. Our Christmas trees have always been an eclectic happy mess of kids decorations, which we love. My decorating heart has always wanted to try decorating a ‘pretty tree’ and this year that opportunity has finally arrived.
Balsam Hill kindly sent us the (210Cm) Canadian Blue Green Spruce Quick Set® Tree to use in our home, and I couldn’t have been more excited. But it wasn’t only me who was excited, my youngest has always wanted what he called a ‘normal tree’. So excited in such, I had not one but two teenage boys happy to help with the decorating, they even let me take a photo, well providing I didn’t show their faces ?
I really enjoy putting together Balsam Hill trees, not only are they very simple to assemble, it becomes a wonderful experience with a touch of luxury. With each tree comes all that is necessary to assemble and fluff your tree, including satin gloves.
This year, we have decorated with a theme of red, white and silver to make my organizational heart sing! These Nordic Frost Ornament Sets come in 25 pieces, and we’ve used 3 to cover the whole tree.
Finally we topped out tree with the Silver And Gold Beaded Star Tree Topper which I absolutely love!
The tree during the daytime is beautiful, but it really comes into it’s own at night, when the LED lights do their thing.
While we might not have felt very Christmassy last week, popping up the tree has certainly improved our spirits! I’ve been playing along this week with the Balsam Hill Christmas Home Tour, you can find the other attendees below!

This post was written as per my disclosure policy. I was gifted these items by Balsam Hill, however all opinions are my own, and I really, really love the tree ? xx
Wow! Your Christmas tree is so beautiful Nicole. I love a traditional tree and yours looks amazing.
Thanks so much Julie, it was a real shame to take it down ?
Your tree is the tops! I love the colour co-ordination too – the boys did good with the decorating.
