This week’s My Favourite Space is from Maya of House of Cherub. House of Cherub, design and create stunning home décor, and are located on the Sunshine Coast. I first fell in love with their gorgeous little mailboxes, now their range has expanded to include wooden bunting, picket fence for your mailbox and the most amazing “Love” shelf you’ve seen. With more products to be released soon, this husband and wife team are a talent to get excited about! Today, Maya has chosen to share with us her gorgeous dining room.
Over to you Maya!
Tell us a little about yourself?
Hi, I’m Maja. I live in Peregian Springs on the beautiful Sunshine Coast with my husband, daughter and our kelpie, Mila. I am one half of House of Cherub, a business my husband I started together to marry our creative passions and love of timber, quality craftsmanship and time spent together.
Tell us about your favourite space?
My favourite space in our home is our dining room. Our home has two living areas, one at the front of the house and the other towards the back. Our dining area meets in the middle next to the kitchen. Three out of four of the walls in the dining room have windows. We use this space everyday.
What is it about this space that makes it your favourite space?
When we bought our home the dining room was the first space I fell in love with and envisaged furnished. From the curtains, the chairs to the rug. I love the space because, to me, it’s a perfect blend of old and new. Our dining room table is extendable so it’s perfect for just us or when we have family or friends visit. We personalise each gathering on our wooden chalkboard bunting.
What are your favourite items in this space?
The chairs are my favourite splurge! I also love our memory jar. We put our cinema tickets in the jar or write down a funny thing our daughter said that day or a capture a sweet moment.
How does this space make you feel?
Our dining room space makes me feel relaxed and happy. A typical Sunday morning is a hearty breakfast with my family, morning sunlight shining just the perfect amount of sun into the space and Jack Johnson playing in background. I have this exact relaxed feeling every time I sit here.
Isn’t Maya’s dining room gorgeous? I love the natural lighting in the room, along with the dining chairs and the chalkboard bunting. And what a fantastic idea the memory jar is. Thank you for sharing your Favourite Space with us Maya.
