If I could only pick one form of social media, Instagram would be it. I’ve spoken many times of my love for Instagram, as a place of positivity and pretty pictures. For quite some time now I have been following Hayley, from Mum Little Loves. Hayley has an amazing eye for details and a real flare for decorating. A fellow Builder’s Wife, Hayley shares her home and her passion for supporting small business on her blog.
Tell us a little bit about yourself?
I’m a mum of three, 2 teen girls Lucinda and Arabella, and a 4 year old boy Orlando. I am married to the love of my life, Terry, who I met on my 19th birthday. He is a builder and together we make a pretty good team. We live on the Gold Coast, QLD in a house we recently bought because of the amazing location. It definitely wasn’t for the house which needs some work. We are about to start renovating and I simply cannot wait!
Tell us about your favourite space?
There are so many beautiful spaces that I drool over in magazines and on Pinterest. They are styled to perfection and have all the elements that make them an ideal space in my eyes. Having said that, my favourite space has to be a space that I feel comfortable in, and my home is my sanctuary, where I relax and recharge. Currently my favourite space at home is our backyard.
What is it about this space that makes it your favourite space?
Summertime in Australia means living outdoors. We love to BBQ, swim, boat and soak up the sunshine. Our backyard is set right on the Broadwater, we can jump in the boat and take the kids tubing straight from our pontoon. Our pool is exposed to the sun nearly all day, which means it’s never cold and gets used for most of the year. Adjoining the pool is a small pool house, it currently has a built in BBQ, we are hoping to remove it and put a hot tub in there … I do love a long soak in the hot tub with a cocktail!
We have an undercover area for alfresco dining, we are hoping to extend this area in our renovations. The deck is a great space to laze in the sun, and we have had many Sunday sessions with cold drinks and nibbles there. I also love that we have a few small gardens, they are quite tropical, full of palm trees, I am currently attempting to add some colour and flowers.
What are your favourite items in this space?
There’s not a whole lot of decorating going on out there right now, but there a few items that I love. The giant flamingo and swan pool toys add some fun and a welcome splash of colour to the pool. I also have 2 indoor/outdoor poufs that I love, they are easy to move around, super comfortable and they are super stylish in a graphic navy and white pattern. If we are outside, somebody will be using them.
How does this space make you feel?
One word – Relaxed. I feel like I’m on a permanent summer vacation. There’s nothing better than lazing on the deck with a cold drink watching the sunset.
With a space like that, I think I could become a swimmer! Do you have a pool? How about the ocean at your back door?
