Tell us a little about yourself?

My name is Fleur and I am mum to a 5yr old boy and a 4yr old girl, living in regional NSW. Married to my best friend, we are about to start building our new home early next year. In the meantime I am dreaming about my perfect kitchen and bathroom. I work in social media management and blog at Our Urban Box – my little slice of the internet dedicated to all things home, life and fabulous shopping finds. I love a good road trip with the family, even better if it is to a favourite winery.

Tell us about your favourite space?

I discovered this kitchen in Inside Out magazine last year. Since then it has been the basis of how I am designing the kitchen for my new home. I’ve picked colours to match but have gone with a white tile not the grey. This kitchen inspired me to do something different and replace over head cupboards with open shelving. The rest of the house will be based around this kitchen.

What is it about this space that makes it your favourite space?

Everything! Its modern and has character. It has a homely and warm feel about. I can picture the kids and I cooking together, entertaining friends with hubby. I love how it is quite a neutral colour scheme so that you can change your accessories to change the feel and look of the kitchen. And the open shelves – I just how it is such a feature of the kitchen.

What are your favourite items in this space?

I love the thin stone bench top, the open shelves, the timber, the drawers and the small featured tile! I just love everything! The pendnants are amazing. There isn’t anything I would change. It is just so different to anything else I have seen.

  1. Stunning kitchen! I love the windows in the high ceiling and the glass splash back. I have had open shelves in a kitchen (well partial open like this) and it is a bit of extra work. As long as you have plenty of other cupboard space it would work better. My kitchen was kinda small at the time and those shelves where never tidy enough.
I can’t wait to see Fleur’s home as it develops. She will be full of bright and crafty ideas.

    1. Everyone tells me the same about the open shelves but I just love it too much not to do it! I am thinking maybe a small bank of overheads and the rest as open shelves? Not sure yet… few months left to decide anyhow!

    2. Love glass splash backs, we have one and they are just so easy to clean. xx

  2. I have seen a few post from Fleur and she has a funky style… Love love love her kitchen… #fybf

    1. Thanks Natalie! One day next year I’ll be able to claim a kitchen as nice as this I hope! ‘

    2. Thanks for dropping by Natalie xx

  3. This is just what I dream of when I dream of kitchens. *sigh*

    1. is very dreamy isn’t it? I hope mine looks as good as this when its built!

    2. It’s beautiful Malinda, I’m dreaming of a new kitchen as well xx

  4. Thanks for having me Nic! I love this kitchen so much. Every time I look at it I get so excited about how mine will look!

    1. My pleasure Fleur, thank you for joining in. xx

  5. I love all of the natural light and the glass splashback – this would be on my list to install if I was to build. I love it, great taste Fleur xx

    1. I love the splash back as well. xx

  6. Fleur has such an eye for style and this kitchen is no exception. I think her new house is going to be a work of art!

    1. Oh I agree Sammie! xx

  7. I love the look of open shelving…but practically, there is NO way I’d be able to keep them organised and tidy enough…and that would drive me crazy. So our compromise when we removated our kitchen was to have a section of open shelving which is specifically for glasses and vases. We’re able to keep them all lined up and looking tidy, and it’s easy to grab a water or wine glass quickly when you need one. It will be great to see how Fleur replicates this look – as it is fabulous!

    1. That’s exactly what we plan to do. Keep our open shelves for pretty stuff only. Our kitchen will be nothing like Fleur’s though. xx

  8. Omg each time you present kitchens on this serie makes me want to get another kitchen!!! Haha! This one is wow! Fleur has really good taste. xx cathy

    1. It’s beautiful isn’t. I love it too xx
