Would you believe me if I told you there is only one month of Summer left? We are days away from February and the last month of Summer, a great time to look at some inspiring Summer BBQ areas to make the most of the long days and warm weather. Before we know it, we’ll be complaining about how cold it is again. We BBQ for dinner at least 3 times a week and use our BBQ area, in our case a deck, every day of the week. It’s one of the most used parts of our home, if your thinking of adding or renovating a BBQ space, perhaps you’ll find some inspiration here.
Inspiring Summer BBQ Areas
When searching for inspiration, I find it hard to go past an outdoor kitchen that incorporates a BBQ. I love to cook, well, I love to entertain and an outdoor kitchen like this one, is perfectly complimentary to our lifestyle. The splashback tiles are something else. Just gorgeous.
In Queensland BBQ areas are nearly always undercover as the heat prevents us from basking in the sun, this gorgeous trellis is the perfect solution for those who prefer to let filtered light in. Being an avid gardener, this style of BBQ are really appeals to me.
Bordering on brilliance, this draw fridge with solid fronts is a great compromise for an outdoor fridge. I have seen far too many glass fronted outdoor fridges, with little consideration to how much extra energy they require to keep cold, so much is lost with the glass front. The draw system also provides plenty of space.
Short on space? No problem with this compact example. The addition of the rangehood prevents all the smoke and grease from staining the cladding and the ceiling, essential for a compact space like this one.
Timber and BBQ’s work well together, perhaps it has something to do with fire, regardless it just works. The inclusion of the pizza oven, just in the shot, makes this a truly multipurpose area.
Outdoor living is very much a part of the Australian lifestyle, especially during the warm Summer months. It’s an area we are often called on to renovate or build and enjoy the process of providing another usable space for the home.
What is your favourite thing to cook on a BBQ? What style of BBQ do you have?

Summer is by far my most favourite time of the year and if you are lucky enough to have a beautiful place outside.. even better.
This is lovely. I miss foods cooked on the barbecue. Ok, to be honest, I miss lots of foods!! In our Sydney house my kitchen building husband made our Outdoor Room into a semi-kitchen with benchtops, cupbooards, a large sink with running H&C water, and a built-in barbeque. The room was also completely built in with glass doors and we, ahem, needed them all open when we used the barbecue. Whilst we had factored in and installed an extractor it was not ideal. However it was always good to have that extra space for larger events and the sink was large and brilliant for bigger items needing washing up. Denyse #teamIBOT
I love the look of the trellis one (though less love for the idea of maintaining it).
These are all gorgeous. Friends of ours are currently renovating both their kitchen and deck (adding an outdoor kitchen line like the top one). Another friend already has the outdoor kitchen on deck thing. Love it.
We are so bad, we hardly ever use our barbecue! I don’t even know how to turn it on. At our last place, the barbecue was so underused, a possum took up residence underneath! That said, if I had one of these outdoor spaces, I would be barbecuing all the time!
WOW! So gorgeous. My poor neglected patio would be so envious of these. I especially love the first one with the black cabinetry. Stunning.
When we eventually get around to fixing up our backyard and getting a covered area outside I would love to have a proper area for a BBQ and bench to serve food from. We certainly have the space for it! I really like that first one, it’s definitely more my kinda style.
