Inspired Space with Lucy Mathieson from Bake Play Smile

Inspired Space with Lucy Mathieson from Bake Play Smile

Lucy is as genuine as they come, I was lucky to briefly meet her at the Kidspot Voices 2015 event I attended earlier this year, and to be honest was totally speechless at the time of our initial meeting. I was surrounded by so many of my idols, and had to take a few moments to catch my breath before I could speak. Fortunately we were able to catch up again a little later, when I had gotten over my useless tongue and we managed to have a conversation. Yay!!

If you haven’t yet found Lucy’s blog, you really must have been living under a rock. My hips curse me for her delicious recipes like 3 Ingredient Caramel Tim Tam Cheesecake Balls and Healthier Coco-Pop Bars, host of Fabulous Foodie Fridays and a great help to bloggers with her Blogger Resources.

So grab a coffee or a tea, and admire Lucy’s favourite space wash over you like a fresh ocean breeze.

Tell us a little about yourself

Hi there! My name’s Lucy and I run a food blog called Bake Play Smile. I love to share easy, family-friendly recipes… and I particularly love sweet recipes. Yep, I’m a total sugarholic! Before I started blogging full time, I was a primary school teacher (and absolutely loved it). I still do a little bit of casual teaching here and there to keep up to date with it all! My husband and I live down by the coast in Victoria with our gorgeous golden retriever. On the weekends I love to catch up with girlfriends, get out and go for a walk, bake… and then go out for a lazy Sunday brunch (that’s my ideal weekend anyway!)

Tell us about your favourite space

My favourite space is the beach! We’re lucky to live really close to the coast so we spend a lot of time at the beach. I think my favourite spot would have to be down at Wilsons Promotory – it’s the most gorgeous place. We often take lunch down there and go for a big walk… it’s the best day out. Otherwise 4 Mile Beach in Port Douglas is an all-time favourite of mine. My grandparents lived directly across the road from 4 Mile, so I was lucky enough to spend my school holidays pretty much living at the beach there!

What is it about this space that makes it your favourite?

I grew up going to the beach and there’s just nothing quite like it. We even got married at the beach! My husband and I love to travel and my favourite holidays are always the beach ones. I have so many great memories of days spent at the kicking back in the sun.

What are your favourite items in this space?

I think the best thing about the beach is that you don’t need anything at all! Just a bit of fresh air and maybe a towel (although you definitely wont need a towel in Victoria because even in Summer, the water is FREEZING!!).

How does this space make you feel?

Walking on the beach is the best way to clear your head! I love how relaxed you are after a day at the beach… it’s seriously the best feeling. We’re so lucky here in Australia to have all of these amazing beaches. It’s easy to forget just how incredible they are!

Oh I so do agree with you Lucy, my soul is happiest when I can hear the surf. It grounds me, brings me back to my centre and refreshes me.

My friends, you really have to get on board the Lucy train, try her Blog for her fabulous recipes and words of advice, her Instagram for drool worthy foodie pictures, Pinterest for her pinable pictures and Facebook to stay up to date.

Are you a fan of the beach? Do you love Lucy as much as I do?
