Last week we lusted over a few of my favourite current Kmart goodies, this week we are again doing something a little different and taking a look at some amazing Ikea Hacks. Hacking has become a great way to create functional, reasonably priced furniture that suits your decore.

Ikea Hacks – Inspired Space

Ikea Hackers

While searching for Ikea Hacks, I came across an entire site dedicated to Ikea Hacks. It’s called Ikea Hackers and this brilliant bench seat is featured on their website. Made from Alex drawer units and a BESTA shelf unit this bench seat doubles up as storage space, perfect for a childs room.

Petal and Ply

Ikea’s Expedit or Kallax shelves are a common item to be hacked and I love what Petal and Ply have done with theirs. A set of shelves seen in Pottery Barn were the inspiration for this hack, which provides much needed storage in their home.

The Pink Dream

Another brilliant Expedit/Kallax hack is this one by Ceres from The Pink Dream, who was looking to create storage space for her daughters toys. What an exceptional result! The addition of doors and the overlays, coupled with the gold ring pulls and gorgeous styling, this is an amazing piece.

Money Can Buy Lipstick

Looking for a simple Ikea hack, this is it! Inspired by a lux gold and white desk Teresea from Money Can Buy Lipstick had seen online, she bought this Alex desk from Ikea and a can of gold spray paint and here is the impressive result. Love it!

Dwellings By Devore

When designing our bedroom, I really wanted a bench seat at the end of the bed. Unfortunately it didn’t fit in with the space when the time came, but had it, this DIY Ikea hack bench seat, using a Vittsjo Tv Unit by Bethany from Dwelling by Devore would have been perfect!

Stylish Revamp

Kathy and Garrett from Stylish Revamp have done a fantastic job on this set of Billy shelves from Ikea. Billy shelves are my favourite of all the Ikea Hacks. Billy shelves are often re-purposed as library shelves, which we all know I love!

Eleven Magnolia Lane

I have feature this library wall on the blog before but it remains my all time favourite Ikea Hack. Amy from Eleven Magnolia lane had her Father construct this set of built in Billy shelves and the result is simply stunning.

Stylkea Via DIY-Decorator

Recently my good friend Kylie from DIY-Decorator featured an ingenious new product called Stylkea. Created especially to enhance your Ikea Hacks, these panels take all the hard work out of hacking! Such a simple but brilliant product.

Got a corner of a room to fill or in need of some storage? Perhaps one of these Ikea Hacks will be the perfect solution for you.

Are you a fan of Ikea? Ever sampled the meatballs?

  1. We went to Ikea yesterday and I’m always amazed at how brilliantly they make use of the space – I love the way they style their “rooms.” Our place is full of Ikea, and in particular we have a whole load of Billy bookcases, I love how the “hackers” have enhanced them in this post! I always skip the meatballs, but I can never resist an Ikea hot dog – the price is hot too, only 1 dollar!

    1. I cannot say I have actually ever eaten at Ikea, but I know plenty of my friends do and the hot dogs seem to be the favourite! The staff at Ikea are amazing with what they are able to create in a blank space.

  2. I love a good IKEA hack. Some of the hacks people have done are stunning. For those who are a little DIY challenged, the Stylkea panels make it easy. Thanks for sharing them ?

    1. They are amazing, such a clever thought!
