Horse and Cart

An early morning visit to our home yesterday, gave us time to pause and reflect and take in the street scape. Being big lovers of history, we indulged in some time spent thinking about what the street was like when the house was originally built, in 1905.

We imagined sitting on the front veranda cup of tea in hand, waving to the locals as horse and cart passed by. We imagined dirt roads, children playing and happy times. Ipswich was a bustling mining town, with the first rail station in Queensland.

We imagined the owners of our house walking down to the main street to do their shopping, only a 5 minute walk from our home.

Then we began to dream about who owned our house, why was it built. When did they part with this beauty and who owned it then? There is so much history in our home, so much we are now a part of. Part of the journey of restoring and renovating our home, is about understanding its history, the when, why and how. We can’t wait to share more of this journey with you.
