I have written many times about how our Pen Y Llechwedd is our home and felt like home the moment we first walked through with the real estate. But I found recently, that home actually means so much more than this.
I have learnt, that home means community. It means friendships, comfort, sharing and caring. With our home came the most amazing community, we have an abundance of new grandparents to watch over and help guide our children, we have new friends to share in our fun. We gather together to share a drink, a laugh or even our troubles, and always leave feeling happy, relaxed and full, full of love, full of faith, full of family.
We have a community of people to contact if something is wrong, we have a community of friends watching our children as they all take their first independent steps outside of their comfort zones. We have a community of people who enjoy our company as much as we do theirs. We share produce, we share wine, we share love, laughter, and tears.
Community was missing in our lives before our big move, we were living in a small town, that lacked the feel of community. Now our lives are full, and happy. Who would have thought, that we would have found this with our dream home.
Do you have a strong sense of community where you live?

That’s so lovely Nicole. Community and lovely neighbors make a home even more comfortable. We connect with our neighbors when we can as they work shifts so it’s hard to get a hold of them often.
In our modern society, it is difficult to catch the neighbours, with all the comings and goings of family. We are lucky to be surrounded by older families, who don’t have such busy lives anymore.
I am so envious! – we have moved from a wonderful community to our new home, and while the people here are nice everyone keeps pretty much to themselves, that’s one thing that is hard to judge when buying a new home
That’s so true Helena, we should be allowed to interview our neighbours before we purchase a new home We are very lucky, to be honest I was very nervous about our neighbours before we moved in, you see I actually moved next to one of my old bosses, but we couldn’t be happier! xx
