A little while ago I shared with you, where The Builder and I are at with our health. After too many years of not prioritising ourselves, our health was suffering. My heart had decided to play tricks on us, and was causing some concern. Stress was a major concern and a massive life change was needed. In came our 3rd round of Whole 30.
Whole 30 is hard, but also very rewarding. I have to admit, that I didn’t get all the way through, I made it to a little over 3 weeks and then had a drink. I have continued to eat mostly the same way, but the near nightly wine has crept back in. I blame my weak personal control and stress! That said, the number of wines has decreased dramatically, and I have lost good weight, about 6kgs, although I’d like to loose another 10kg quick smart.
The Builder had mixed success, while the change in lifestyle helped with his stress control, even though on the job issues really made it more difficult than it needed to be. We really have had 2 of the most difficult months with work. Right now his focus is simply making it through each day, which I totally support.
I have gone back to gentle exercise which I am really enjoying. I have had to admit my goal of running 5ks this year is out of reach, but I understand that with persistence, this will be reachable again. I love catching up with my girlfriends in the morning for a walk and have dabbled in swimming again too, though with the local fire brigade turning up nearly every time I enter the pool, my self confidence has taken a hit! I may have been avoiding it for a little while now.
All in all, we are continuing to do as much as we can at this time, while still respecting our crazy busy life. The weight for myself is an ongoing issue that I will continue to battle until I win, it’s been the change in my mental health that has been the most rewarding.
Have you had a good look at your health lately? What improvements could you make? What is your favourite exercise?

I think you can only do what you can do and high five to you for sticking to the whole 30 for so long! My favourite exercise is pump or running but I’m desperate to try a spin class it’s on my list of things to do for this year! There are so many improvements I could make in my health, but I’m just trying to take one step at a time. Onwards and upwards!
Baby steps are best! We are back to one day at a time, all seems a little overwhelming at the moment with the end of the year coming so quickly. xx
It’s all about the mental change I believe and the rest will follow. Baby steps I say. And considering it’s THE busiest time for those in trades and construction I believe that a little slow and steady is the way forward for now. See soon I hope xx
