I’ve fallen in love, I’ve fallen hard, and fast for an Etsy shop I stumbled across just last week. Albert and Grace Vintage Wares was featured in the Etsy newsletter last week, and is just the kind of store I love. Cheryl has a real knack for displaying the items she has for sale, and oh what beautiful items she has.
Have a little read about Cheryl and her passion, taken from her ‘About’ page on her Etsy store.
I have loved, and fossicked for, old things since I was a little girl. I would tag along with my Dad to just about every clearance sale in our rural area. Being a farmer he would acquire bits and pieces that would ‘come in handy’ one day. Most of them did.
I remember rummaging through old boxes to pass the time away at these sales and getting Dad to bid on things for me. At 12 years of age I restored my first piece of furniture and had started collecting old bits and pieces.
Thirty years later, and I am still fossicking – restoring, less so. I love nothing more than finding vintage pieces in chipped, knocked or rusty condition. Pieces that tell a story…I love their stories and so I leave them just as they are.
Three years ago my family and I moved to a charming and chipped, one-hundred year old church out in the country. It is a work in progress. We have five chooks and a confused rooster, named Sophie (long story). I work, part-time, as an assistant kindergarten teacher in town, which I find very rewarding. However, I wanted to do something else as well. Something just for me. My own adventure. With this in mind, and conscious of my other commitments, I decided to open my own Etsy Store.
Having an Etsy store is about more than just selling things, for me. I have found it offers me a creative outlet that is extremely rewarding. I have been made so welcome, and felt so supported, by the Etsy community of like-minded curators, artisans and merchants. People who, as well as sharing their unique talents, have taken the time to support those of others. I am very grateful for this support.
Albert and Grace are two characters my husband created several years ago now when he was contemplating writing a children’s book. They are quite special to me as he has made cards and things for me featuring them. They are adventurers in pursuit of treasures, both lost and forgotten. Old wares are once again loved, used or admired…. I simply help them.
If you like what you see here, as much as I do, pop on over to Cheryl’s Etsy shop Albert and Grace.
