It is not secret that I love gardening although I have not always had a green thumb. The same can be said about my efforts to keep indoor plants alive, though I have found a few varieties that seem to be a little kinder to my greeny brown thumb. I love to keep plants indoors, especially during the Winter months when the garden tends to brown off a little. I find green to be such a happy colour, and sharing this within my home is a guaranteed way to keep the Winter blues at bay.
Indoor Plants Pen Y Llechwedd Style
I have indoor plants in just about every room of our home. They make me feel happy, they make the air feel fresh, and they are a fantastic decorating tool.
The plants are thriving in this almost completed sitting room. The light in here is fantastic and the warmth in these cooler months means the plants are continuing to grow.
This little basket of lillies sits just next to my desk. I love the way the green breaks up the stairwell, without detracting from the gorgeous balustrade.
I have ferns like this one in the entry, in several other rooms in the house, they are far more hardy than it’s Maiden Hair cousin. Just beyond the door, you can see one of the 2 lillies I have on either side of the front door.
This corner of my living room is the kids charging station. We do not allow technology in the bedrooms at night, so this window seat will house the phones, laptops and iPads. The basket holds all the chargers, and to hide them we added a couple of plants.
Also in the lounge room either side of the TV, I have a palm tree. Love the balance to the space they provide.
Still in the lounge, we have another fern. I love this spot, sitting here is very peaceful.
The dinning room doesn’t miss out either, with another variety of fern in this gorgeous antique plant stand.
I have plants in the kids TV area, the bedroom, the library, bathrooms and the laundry. They really do wonders for making our house feel like our home.
