We are still a little while off the second stage of our extension, in which our kitchen will be transformed into a bigger space. My hope has always been to have a big white kitchen, but lately I have begun to realise that this will do nothing for the heritage of our home, and now am considering a coloured kitchen island bench to break up the space and tie into the existing home. While we are thinking dark timber, I have found quite a few different options to get excited about. Perhaps you will find one to suit your home too.
Coloured Kitchen Islands to Inspire
If our home was a little more contemporary I would totally rock this blue island. Loving blue silly!

This home is all kinds of amazing, (you can check it out on the link above) The grey island is really ticking my boxes.

This island bench is much closer to what we are thinking, though we will have the leg turned to match other items in our home.
Loving the shape and the colour of this island via Traditional Home.
This kitchen by Laura Trevey is simply stunning and right about where we are at with ours. Love.
Loving this contemporary kitchen island by House of Jade Interiors.
As you can see a lot of focal interest can be created by using a coloured island bench. We are excited to get started in the designing of ours. We are hoping that it will really tie to the rest of our house, which in a lot of ways is rather feminine, the strength that the timber island will offer should complement that perfectly.
Would you do a coloured kitchen island? Do you have a coloured island bench? Where do you eat your meals?

Love the idea!! Do you follow Devol?
I thought it might be right up your alley! ? I don’t follow them as such, but do check in often. Stunning stuff!! xx
I think you can do your island bench a bit different! When we renovated our kitchen we put in white cabinets and black granite benchtops and I love the contrast. We also put in black kickboards which gives the illusion of floating cupboards and they hide the marks much better than white kickboards would – a nice little tip if you are getting white cabinets ?
