Amara Interior Blog Awards 2016 – #HIT

Amara Interior Blog Awards 2016 – #HIT

Yesterday was a day of contradictions. A long and very busy day at work with amazing outcomes. I am feeling stronger each day, and have returned this week to walking with my friends each morning, and on Friday I will be catching up with another friend to give swimming a go. I am feeling great within myself, however long and demanding work days, especially after an early morning walk, leave me feeling exhausted. So tired in fact, I find it difficult to even cook dinner on these nights, usually the Builder steps up on these nights and helps out. Yesterday however, he had some training in the City, and so on my return from my busy work day, I needed to pop out and pick up a few things for dinner. Totally drained and wondering how I was even going to get through standing on my feet to cook, I opened to cupboard to check which ingredients I needed……..

And I found this, a whole shelf of baking goods, had fallen from a shelf and smashed all over the floor, taking some of the other contents of the cupboard with it.

This was the culprit, finally giving way after years of heavy use. We had somewhat anticipated this day as the cupboard was not well made, but it was on the “to do list” and had never been prioritised. Bugger!

The result was sugar, flour, coconut, rice, salt and the absolutely clincher, OLIVE OIL! All of which came tumbling down onto the floor, dragging other pantry items from the shelves on it’s way and created this big horrible mess. BUT that wasn’t the whole of it, there was glass and sugar on every, single shelf!

A bit over two hours later, the cupboard was as clean as it was going to get until The Builder arrived home to fix the shelves, and I had to get on with the business of cooking dinner. This was one of those nights, I would do anything to be able to call up and order take away, but we have a child who requires a special diet that does not include any kind of take away, so cooking it was.

The Builder returned home early than usual and after fixing the shelves and helping me finalise cleaning the mess, we grabbed a glass of wine and sat on the lounge. A pretty typical night for us, only it was quite late 10pm and we were really out of sorts after a difficult evening. While relaxing, I checked my emails

My invitation to attend the awards ceremony in London will apparently arrive any day, yep you read that right, London. I am still pinching myself!
