4 Tips For Setting Up A “Me” Area In Your Home

4 Tips For Setting Up A “Me” Area In Your Home

How would you like to have a spot in your home that is all your own, where you can do whatever you like, including exercising, meditating, reading—anything you like—and no one is going to disturb you? This may seem like a pipe dream, but believe it or not, you can set up your own “me” area where you can enjoy some quiet time to yourself.

As long as you have a quiet space somewhere in the home, you can create an area that is all yours, for whatever you want to use it for, without the need for tearing out any walls or other construction. Here are a few tips to get you started.

Find the Right Space

In order to have a private space, you need to set up your “me” area in a room that doesn’t have a lot of traffic or noise, and that has plenty of light. Don’t set it up in the living room or dining room. One good option would be a corner in your bedroom. Even if the room is small, a bit of rearranging could allow you to have the space you need for your little nook.

Create a Relaxing Atmosphere

It may be that you want to use this space for yoga or meditation. You won’t need a lot of space, as long as there is room for a yoga mat. Be sure to set up a few Royal Essence candles to create just the right ambiance for relaxing meditation and yoga sessions.

Make it about Your Comfort

This is your space, so it should be all about you and what makes you comfortable. In addition to exercise equipment and other items, add a comfy chair, or some accent cushions that you can snuggle into with a good book and a cup of coffee. Add a few photos, prints, plants, or other decorations that say that this is a space that has been created just for you.

Set Up a Mini Gym

If you plan on using your space for exercising, you are going to need to have a few pieces of equipment. Even if you only have a small space, you can use some free weights and a treadmill. A Sydney PT can help you create a personal workout and diet plan.

Once you have your little area all set up for whatever you are going to use it for, you need to be able to find the time to actually use it. This is going to involve a bit of creative scheduling on your part. Find a time when you have nothing on the go, such as in the mornings after everyone has left for school or work, or in the evenings, after the kids have gone to bed.

Let everyone know that this is your time, and that unless it is an absolute emergency, you are not to be disturbed. That way, you can enjoy your own private space in peace and quiet.

Do you have a “me” area in your home? Do you meditate regularly?

  1. I don’t really have the square footage for me space but I make sure I have my me time at the gym (which is literally next door!) If all else fails, there’s always the bath and a bucketload of bubbles!

    1. The bath is my number one go to, when needing space and unable to find it elsewhere!
